Obituary

Funeral services for Alvin Hobson, 67, were held April 24 at 3 p.m. in Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. David Dyer officiated, assisted by Rev. Powell Cesana of Midland.

Mr. Hobson died April 22 at his home in Spur. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1914. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Hobson, Spur; two sons, Robert, Midland; and Lavelle, Azle; one daughter, Mrs. Billy Copeland, Fulton, MS; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Kavi, Baird; two brothers, Ben Hobson, Weatherford and Jess Hobson, Spur and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers included George Naley, Ronny Hill, Ted Smith, Alvis Bilberry, Ricky Henderson and James McKinney.

Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.

Blanche Hobson, 87, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., in Amarillo.

Mrs. Hobson was born July 2, 1919, in Hamilton County, and her parents moved to Spur in 1930 when she was 11 years old. She married Alvin Hobson in 1943 in Spur.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Dee Reed of Amarillo; a son, Robert Hobson of Midland; a sister, Lillian Lee of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
