Obituary

Services for Howell Wright Hinson, 56, of Crosbyton were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 at Spur Exhibition Building in Swenson Park with Rev. Rory Mosley officiating. Interment was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

He died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Crosbyton.

Mr. Hinson was born March 7, 1947, in Lubbock to Jack Doyle and Lona Thelma Hinson. He graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1965. He served four years in the Air Force. He married Sherry Weygant on Dec. 20, 1969, in Newburgh, N.Y. He enlisted in the Army in 1976 and retired in 1992. He served three tours in Vietnam, Operation Just Cause in Panama, and nine years in the South American Counter Drug Mission. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #6012 in San Antonio. He had been a postal employee in Crosbyton for almost eight years.

Wright´s passions in life included fishing, target shooting and the outdoors. He loved to be on horseback and loved dancing to the twin fiddles.

He was preceded in death by a son, Justin, in 1993 and his father, Jack Doyle, in 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Crosbyton; a daughter, Rhonda Fox of St. John, Virgin Islands; two sons, David Hinson of Keller and Cory Hinson of Canon City, Colo.; his mother, Thelma Hinson of Crosbyton; a brother, Don Hinson of Spur; a sister, Doylene Winkler of Kalgary; and seven grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Lupus Foundation of America, designated for research, 3730 Kirby Dr., Ste. 720, Houston, TX 77098.

Sherry Hinson photo Sherry Karen Hinson, 68, of Crosbyton went to be with her Lord Friday, August 4, 2016. She was born August 21, 1947 in Newburgh, New York to Harvey and Shirley Weygant. Sherry married Wright Hinson on December 20, 1969 in Newburgh, New York. Wright passed away in October of 2003. Sherry was a licensed beautician who owned and operated Petals and Bows Flower Shop in Crosbyton for many years and also worked for Metal Mart for a number of years. She loved music and loved to dance. Sherry had a genuine love for people and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wright Hinson; and a son, Justin Hinson, who passed away on May 10, 1993.

Sherry left behind one daughter; Rhonda Fox of Crosbyton; two sons; David Hinson of Keller; Cory Hinson of Kempner; three sisters; Georgette Barkley Perry of Newburgh, New York; Barbara Windheim of Florida; Kim Jusino of Florida; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, at First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton, with burial to follow in Spur Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, at Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
