James and Sarah Hines

James Floyd Hines, 90, a longtime Spur resident was claimed by death at 10:15 a.m. Sunday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a brief illness.

Less than two days later, his wife, Sarah Florence Hines, was dead. She succumbed at 3 a.m. Tuesday in the same hospital. Mrs. Hines was 81.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Hines had entered the Crosbyton hospital on Monday Nov. 3.

They were parents of Dutch Hines.

Joint memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in the First Baptist Church of Spur with the Rev. Victor Crabtree, retired minister, officiating.

Interment is to be made in Spur Cemetery.

James Floyd Hines and the former Sarah Collier were married Oct. 21, 1917 in Chillicothe. They had been Dickens County residents since moving there in 1932.

Mr. Hines was born in Limestone County, and his wife was a native of Virginia. They were members of the Baptist Church.

survivors include one son, Dutch Hines of Crosbyton; two daughters, Ruby Billingsley of Lubbock and Dorothy Jean Miller of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
