Obituary

Funeral services for Ollie Hindman, 87, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. George Price, Jr., officiating.

Hindman died about 7:04 p.m. in the Crosbyton Hospital on August 7 following a lengthy illness. Born September 7, 1898 in Nacogdoches County, he had been a resident of Spur since 1911. He was a retired farmer.

In 1964, he received the Outstanding Spur Ex-Student award and in 1977 was named Outstanding Senior Citizen. A member of the Methodist Church, he was a member of the board until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Hindman, Spur; two sons, Ted Hindman, Rosemount, CA; and Don Hindman, Orache, Arizona; two daughters, Nelda Tyler, Marble Falls and Billie Bass, Spur; a brother, H.L. Hindman, Wichita Falls; a sister, Beulah Graves, Lubbock; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Services for Ruby Elizabeth Hindman, 90, were held December 23, 1993, in the First United Methodist Church, Spur, at 3 p.m. Rev. Jack Moffatt, church pastor, officiated.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hindman died at her home at 10:12 a.m. on December 21. Justice of the Peace Bonnie Edwards ruled death was due to natural causes.

She was born July 15, 1903 in Nacogdoches, but had lived most of her life in Dickens County. She married Ollie Hindman in Spur on February 12, 1924. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1986.

Mrs. Hindman was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Spur Art Guild and a member of the Soldier´s Mound Home Demonstration Club and the Spur Library board. She was a 1923 graduate of Spur High School.

Survivors include two sons, Ted Hindman, Greenacres, WA; and Don Hindman, Florence, AZ; two daughters, Nelda Tyler, Marble Falls and Billie Bass, Spur; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers included Chuck Hinson, Doug Allen, Richard Jones, Larry Don Bass, George Hamaty and Don Condron.
