Funeral rites for A.C. Hindman, 79, were held Saturday, April 27, at the First Methodist Church of Spur, Rev. J.E. Harrell officiating.

Mr.Hindman passed away Thursday, April 25 at his home in Spur just at the close of day. Mrs. Hindman was away from home for a brief visit with sick relatives at the time. When she returned home, Mr. Hindman was sitting on the porch apparently asleep. Efforts to rouse him were futile.

Like all loyal soldiers, Mr. Hindman had finished his days work, laid his armour down, crossed over the river of death and to rest in the great beyond.

Pallbearers were G.S. Link, J.C. Payne, A.M. Shepard, Hollis Atkeison, John King, and F.W. Jennings.

Flower bearers were Mesdames Kate Morris, John King, Geo. S. Link, F.W. Jennings, J.E. Harrell, C.H. McCully, J.C. Payne, Hollis Atkeison.

Andrew Caldwell Hindman was born September 4, 1860 at Center Star Lauderdale County AL. When he was 24 years of age he came to Hackett, AR where he met and in 1891 married Miss Sarah Elizabeth Davis. To this union were born nine children, six sons and three daughters, Clyde, Claudie, Alvin, Beulah and Homer who survive. One son and two daughters died in infancy. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild and one brother.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery in the family plot.

February 26, 1913 Mrs. Sarah Hindman passed away and two years later Mr. Hindman was married to Mrs. Rose Bolton, who had been a real helpmate in helping to rear his younger children and in caring for him in his last years.

Four years ago, July 1936 in celebration of his 75th birthday, Mr. Hindman had the pleasure of an unbroken family roundup as all living members of children and their families were present. Then again, two years ago all were here in a reunion except one grandson.

Mr. Hindman was a member of the Methodist church since a young man.

Children and near relatives here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hindman and children of Lubbock, Claude Hindman and wife, Alvin Hindman and wife and Homer. Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Hindman and four children. Mr. and Mrs. Dogie Graves and two children of Spur, one brother, B.P. Hindman of Monroe, two grandsons, Buel Hindman and wife of Lubbock and J. L. Hindman and wife of Paducah, Finus Hindman and wife of Monroe, Mrs. Clyde Gaston of Petersburg, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Davis and son J.W., Jr. of Terrell, Mrs. Burberry of Ft. Worth, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Roberson and Mrs. Jack Roberson of Paducah, Mrs. Ramsey Young and T.B. Norris of Plainview. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Graves and Mr. and Mrs. Babe Graves of Guthrie, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and daughter, Minniebell of Idalou.
