Former Resident Killed in Car Accident in Cal.

U.S.Flag   Funeral services were held at Chandler Funeral Chapel Monday for Charley J. Haywood, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident near Westley, CA, Wed. July 11.

A former resident of Spur, Haywood was the sole occupant of the car. It is believed that one of the tires blew out, and caused the car to turn over.

The deceased was brought back to Spur where he had lived for 10 years, and was buried in the Spur cemetery by his wife, the former Millie Waller, who succumbed in 1934.

Haywood was born Feb.16, 1890 in Arkansas. He married Miss Waller in Red River county.

Pallbearers were Enis Hill, Orie Smith, Jesse Hagins, Charlie Kearney, H.P. Berry and M.S. Waller.

The Rev. Gilbert officiated.

Survivors are Gladys Kidd, Lubbock; Charles Haywood, U.S. Army, Luzon; Essie Schaller, San Antonio; Clyde Haywood, U.S. Army, Luzon; Jack Haywood, Lillie Haywood and Grayson Haywood, CA; Will Haywood, Jim Haywood, Mel Rose and Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Baker, Dickens.

Chandler Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
