Obituary

William Columbus Monroe Havens, resident of Dickens county since 1926, died at his home in the Kalgary Community on Apirl 11, 1951. Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Apirl 13, in the First Baptist Church. Rev. J.W. Grizzle, Crosbyton minister and Rev. Handley of Lockney officiated.

Havens was born October 15, 1887, in Collin County, TX. He was married there in 1908. The family moved here in 1926.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Julia Havens, one daughter Mrs. Frances Ballard, Hagerman, NM; three sons: Glenn, Olton, TX; Roscoe, Portland, OR; and Waldo, Kalgary; two brothers, John of Tahoka and Arthur of Arkansas; four sisters: Mrs. Ida Sims, Memphis, Arkansas; Mattie Lucus, Garland, Essie Rogers of Dickens, and Linnie Austin, CA. Five grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were Ernest Caplinger, Mutt Bostick, Bernice Bilberry, Merton Fisher, Preston Ballard and Elmer Thomason.

Havens was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Interment was in Spur Cemetery with Chandler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Julia Marandum Havens was buried here in services held last Wedndesday in the First Baptist Church, Rev. J.W. West, Anson, officiating. Interment was in Spur cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter and three sons; Mrs. R.H. Ballard, Roswell, NM; R.G. Havens, Kalgary; Waldo Havens, Kalgary; Roscoe Havens, Portland, OR.

Three sisters, Mrs. Annie Lenere, Farmersville; Mrs. Bertha Hensely, Greenville; Mrs. D.W. Sisco, Copeville and one brother, Hershall Compton, Princeton.

Final Rites for Julia Havens, 56, at Spur Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Havens were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Spur Baptist Church.

Mrs. Havens died in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. She had been in failing health for three years. A resident of Dickens since 1927, she was born at McKinney.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. R.H. Ballard, Roswell, New Mex.; three sons, R.G. and Waldo, Kalgary, Rosco, Portland, Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Lemore, Farmersville, Mrs. Bertha Hanslee, Greenville, Mrs. D. W. Cisco, Copeville; a brother, Herschell Compton, Farmersville, seven grandchildren.

Interment was in Spur cemetery. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
