Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, December 15, 1985, at 2:30 in the Afton Baptist Church for Aubry Luther Harris, 77. Rev. Dennis Teeters, Jayton, officiated, assisted by Rev. Dave Mertz, Plainview.Mr. Harris died December 13 about 5;15 p.m. in Lubbock General Hospital following a lengthy illness. A farmer, he had lived in Dickens County for over 50 years.
Born July 1, 1908 in Hamilton County, he married the former Zella Starrett in Lynn County in 1942. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Zella Harris, Afton; two sons, Eugene Harris, Jayton and Dwain Harris, Stephenville; one sister, Stella Kee, Lubbock and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Coy Morris, E.J. Nichols, Glenn Ammonett, T.C. Sandlin, Wilburn Ball and J.W. Vickrey.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
