Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Beulah Barton Harris were held at the First Baptist Church of Spur, Thursday January 23, at 4 p.m. with Rev. A.P. Stokes officiating, assisted by Rev. Clarence Coffman of Plainview. Death occurred at her home in Dry Lake community at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday January 22, after a three months illness. Interment was made in Spur cemetery with Campbell Chapel in charge.

Beulah Barton was born in Mason County, Texas July 21, 1890. She united with the Baptist Church at the age of 14 and has been prominent in church affairs since that time. She moved to Dickens County with her parents 22 years ago. On Feb. 13, 1918 she was married to Turner Harris of Dickens, TX and to this union two children were born, Neva and Truman.

Survivors are the husband, her son, Truman and Neva Bostic, her mother, Mrs. D. [Millie] Barton, three sisters, Mrs. F.H. McGaha, Mrs. C.E. James, and Mrs. A.L. McCarty, two brothers, Clate Barton and DeLoyd Barton, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Ellis Draper, D.D. DeLisle, O.C. Miller, Buran Smith, O.A. Adkins, and Loyd Hindman. Flower bearers were Mesdames Ellis Draper, P.P. Delisle, O.C. Miller, Jeff Smith, Lloyd Hindman and Coy Dopson.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church for William Turner Harris, 72, a retired farmer.

Rev. Norris Taylor officiated at the services, assisted by Rev. Howard Marcom.

Mr. Harris died at his home in Spur August 15. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1916. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of WWI.

Survivors include his wife, Spur; his mother, Mrs. Lillie Harris, Spur; one son, William Truman, Hobbs, NM; one daughter, Mrs. R.G. Bostic, Spur; three step-sons, Bill Calvert, Lubbock, Leland Calvert, Big Spring, Jerry Calvert, Keene; six step-daughters: Mrs. R. R. Small and Mrs. Laster Williams, Lubbock; Mrs. James Reast, Littlefield; Mrs. Billy Green, Roswell, NM; Mrs. Jean Forbes, Smithville; and Mrs. Fred A. Morris, El Paso; two sisters, Mrs. Eva George, Spur and Mrs. Mary Jones, Taft, CA; twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers included Leland, and Jerry Calvert, Bob Williams, Billy Green, Wayne Wright, Mike Harris.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
