Funeral services for Claude Henry Hammonds, 59, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Spur Church of Christ.Mr. Hammonds, who had been an employee of the City of Spur for the past 12 years died in a Big Spring Hospital following a short illness.
He had been a resident of Spur since 1929.
Survivors include his wife, Spur; 2 daughters, Mrs. J.W. Wilson, Crane and Mrs. L.E. Hobbs, Brownwood; his mother Mrs. Jeff Hammonds, Brawley, CA; 4 sisters, Ruby Barclay, Spur; Winnie Bilberry Brawley, CA; Louise Hopkins and Ida Mae Duncan, both of Hawthorne, CA; two brothers, Roy, Porterville, CA and Virgil, Salina Beach, CA and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Chester McAlpin, Bill Dement, A.M. Karr, Edd Webb, Jewel Steele, Woodrow McArthur, Luther Spain and Everette Roberson.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery.

Graveside services for Pauline Adella Hammonds, 96, of Kerrville, were Saturday, December 20, 1997 at the Spur Memorial Cemetery. Charles Ball, Hwy 70 Church of Christ, Spur, officiated. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hammonds died Wednesday, December 17 at Hilltop Village Care Center in Kerrville.
Mrs. Hammonds was born September 25, 1901 in Mexia, Texas. She married Claude Henry Hammonds April 13, 1929 in Portales, New Mexico. He preceded her in death November 22, 1966. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie Wilson, Kerrville; Joyce Sharber, Moore, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Benny Max Wilson, and Jimmy D. Wilson, both of Leakey, Texas; Donna Lois Brown, Andrews; Vickie Gregory, Moore, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
