Obituary

Funeral services for Earnest Harward [sic] Hairgrove, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church.

Rev. W.L. Kite will officiate, assisted by Rev. Chester Sassman.

Mr. Hairgrove died about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Spur Memorial Hospital.

Born in 1883, Mr. Hairgrove came to Dickens County in 1915 where he farmed north of Spur. In 1952 he moved to Spur to make his home. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Hairgrove; two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Harris, San Angelo and Mrs. Opal Harris, Globe, AZ; two brothers, Albert Hairgrove, Houston and Hugh Hairgrove, Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Mrs. Eva Crouch, Houston.

Pallbearers will be Loyd Hindman, Archer Powell, H.J. Bell, Pat Robinson, Lon Bass, Jeff James with honorary pallbearers Jeff Smith, John Blakely and Homer Hill.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie Hairgrove 79, was buried here following funeral services at 10:30 Friday in the First Baptist church. Rev. Norris Taylor officiated.

Mrs. Hairgrove died in the Golden Years Nursing Home on Dec. 7 in Cristoval. She had been in the home about two years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had been a resident of Dickens County since 1915.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Harris, Globe, AZ and Mrs. Opal Harris, San Angelo; four sisters, Mrs. Birdie York, El Campo; Mrs. Fannie Hill, Yoakum; Maggie Dennis, Rosebud; Inez Clifton, Houston; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Homer Hill, Armon Fitzgerald; Joe Draper; Elmer Wright, R.J. Bell; Russell Williams and Archer Powell.
