Biography

In 1942 Fred C. Haile was editor for The Times. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Haile. He was born at Afton, Texas in 1901. I suppose Fred lived one of the most colorful lives of any one in Dickens County. He entered the army in 1918 and in 1919 enlisted in the U.S. Navy, receiving his honorable discharge in December, 1921. He then entered Hardin-Simmons University and received his degree in 2 1/2 years. He enjoyed politics and gave this advise to young men and women. "Find out as early in life as possible what you enjoy doing and learn it better than any one else has and you will be a success". Fred passed away on January 19, 1958.
