Funeral services for Henry C. Gruben, 86, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Darwin Cox officiating.

Gruben died Saturday, December 8, about 5:25 a.m. in the Pampa Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.

Born in Washington on the Brazos on April 30, 1898, he had been a resident of Spur since 1921 where he operated a jewelry store. He married the former Winnye Gilbert on May 21, 1922 in Spur. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He and his wife have lived in Pampa since January 8, 1984.

He is survived by his wife, Winnye G. Gruben, Pampa; one son, Henry W. Gruben, Pampa; two sisters, Sena Overton, Mineral Wells; Lettie Brumfield, Brownwood; two grandchildren David W. Gruben, Amarillo; Karl T. Gruben, Houston; one great grandchild, Erin Guben, Amarillo.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorial services for Winnye Beatrice Gruben, 99, of Pampa will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Spur with Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Gruben died Monday, December 4, 2000. She was born August 3, 1901 in Townsville, Texas. She attended North Texas State University in Denton and taught school in Spur. She was a resident of Spur from 1921 until January 1984 when she moved to Pampa. She married Henry C. Gruben on May 21, 1922 in Spur. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1984. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spur.

Survivors include one son, Henry W. Gruben of Pampa; one sister, Gladys West of Lubbock; two grandsons, David W. Gruben of Boerne and Karl T. Gruben of Houston; one great granddaughter, Erin Gruben of Austin.

Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Spur or a favorite charity.
