Obituary

Funeral services for Vernon Gregory, 81,were held Friday at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church. Church pastor, Archie Echols officiated.

Mr. Gregory, who was a retired farmer, died August 16 in the Crosbyton Hospital. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1928. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Gregory, Spur; a daughter, Sharon Bilberry, Austin, and one brother, Henry Gregory, Comanche; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Nelson, Lubbock and Mrs. Eula Mae Bennett, Austin; three grandchildren.

Pallbearers included C.C., Hub, Jake Woodrow, Pete, Bill, Kenneth and Curly Swaringen.

Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.

Thelma Gregory Photo Services for Thelma B. Gregory, 76, were held March 3, at 2:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with pastor Rev. George Price, Jr., officiating.

Mrs. Gregory died about 11:45 p.m. in the Crosbyton Hospital on March 1, following a brief illness. She was born in Matador on June 13, 1911 and had lived in Dickens County for 58 years. She was a homemaker and a sales clerk for Gabriel´s Department Store and later Hurst Department Store.

She married Vernon Gregory on March 1, 1930 in Spur. He died in 1978. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Peters, Austin; eight brothers, Claude Swaringen, Dickens; A.A. Swaringen, Green Valey, AZ; Hub Swaringen, Canyon; Woodrow Swaringen, Decatur; J.E. Swaringen, Girard; Pete and Kenneth Swaringen, both of Fort Worth; Bill Swaringen, Brownfield; three sisters, Gertrude Bradley, Amarillo; Dot Ward, Nocona and Melva Rigsby, McAdoo; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
