Uncle Bob Greer died Thursday at the home of his son, Lon Greer, in the Afton country, and the remains will be interred Friday in the Spur Cemetery.

Uncle Bob Greer had been sick for some time and his death at this time was not expected. He had lived in Weston, Texas and this section of the country a number of years and has many friends and relatives who sincerely mourn his untimely departure from this life.

The Texas Spur, October 20, 1911
Mr. R. J. Greer died at the home of his son near Afton, Oct. 1911. After several weeks illness. His body was laid to rest in the Spur Cemetery. Brother Greer expressed these words before he died, "that he was at peace with God and glad to go." He was born in Claborn parish and was 63 years old. He was the son of Isaah and Nancy Greer. The family consisted of ten brothers and two sisters. Our loss is his gain. Take courage brother, sister and children. God doeth all things well. He will call for you and me some day.

Written by the Pastor and brothers warm friend, J.V. Bilberry
