Note from Family

Elijah Wilson Green married Amanda Alice Wagnon in Temple Texas March 14, 1889 by Rev. Rogers, witnesses Gordy Dunlap and Frank Rainwater.

To this union were the following children:
Ulver Monroe Green May 20, 1890 to March 17 1968
Lillie Green May 12, 1892 to May 21 1969
Raymond Sylvester Green Nov. 20, 1893 to Nov. 13, 1979
Eva Rena Green Nov. 9, 1895 to May 8 1972
Ferman Lee Green July 16, 1897 to Aug. 31, 1968 Died in Georgia (My grandfather.)

William Andrew Green Nov. 30, 1907 to Dec. 18, 1967 also in the Spur cemetary

John Wilson Green Nov.30, 1907 to Feb. 2 1962

This is just a partial list of some of my Great Grand fathers ancestors. He is also in the 1920 census in Dickens County. It list him as being born in Georgia and his father born in NC.

Obituary

E.W. Green, 75, passed away Friday morning, April 5, at the home of his son, R.S. Green, of Spur. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Burnham officiating.

Born May 7, 1864 in the state of Georgia, Mr. Green came to Texas when a very small child. He came to Kent and Dickens Counties in 1915 and made his home in and near Spur since that time.

Mr. And Mrs. Green were married March 14, 1889 and had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on the 14th of last March.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Alice Green; five sons, U.M. Green, Lone Oak, Texas; F.L. Green, of Brownfield; R.S. and Andrew Green of Spur; and J.W. Green of Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. A.B. Wimberly of Gordon, Texas; and Mrs. A. Williams of Lingerville, Texas.

Active pallbearers were John Childers, W.N. McCombs, Earnest George, Willie Williams, Charlie Kimmel and Lester George.

Wards Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. E.W. Green, 68, were held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, February 18. Rev. H.L. Burnam officiating. Death occurred at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Eva Williams, Lingerville, Texas, February 17, 1941. Mrs. Green had been in ill health the past year; her condition becoming serious about a month ago, while visiting her daughter.

Interment was made in the Spur Cemetery by the side of her husband who preceded her in death, April 6, 1940. Curry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are: five sons, Ulver Green, Lone Oak, Texas; Sylvester Green, Spur; Andrew Green, Spur; Ferman Green, Brownfield; and Johnny Green, Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Williams, Lingerville, Texas; and Mrs. Lillie Wimberley, Gordon, Texas. One sister, Mrs. J.E. Moore, Kirkland, Texas; twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Amanda Alice Waggoner was born in Washington County, Arkansas, October 14, 1872.

She was married to Elijah Wilson Green, March 14, 1889 in Washington county.

In 1909 the family moved to Childress county making their home there until 1915, when they moved to Kent county, settling near Girard. Mr. and Mrs. Green moved to DeLeon in 1934 where they made their home until 1939, when they moved to Spur.
