Mrs. Laura Grantham, one of the most highly respected ladies in Spur country, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tobe Westfall in Red Hill community about ten o'clock Wednesday evening of last week. She had been in rather poor health for sometime and her advanced age was largely responsible for her demise.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Wright Randolph, minister of the Church of Christ at Floydada and former minister at the Spur church, was in charge of the services.

Interment followed at Spur Cemetery. Webber Williams acting as funeral director.

Six grandchildren served as active pallbearers. The were: Richard Westfall, Luther Marr, Jack Grantham, Charles Parks, Bailey Kimmel and Leroy Williams.

Ms. Grantham was a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. William Beck and was born in California March 24, 1861. When just a child her parents moved to the state of Tennessee where she lived until about grown. She came to Texas as a young lady about 1880. August 15, 1885, she was married to Richard Grantham in Milan County while she was teaching school there. In the home there were three stepchildren and she assumed the duty of a mother to them. She had four children of her own to rear.

Mr. Grantham died June 4, 1903, and Mrs. Grantham had to resume the responsibility of the home in full. She moved to Spur in 1911 and maintained her home until about one year ago when her health became so bad that her children induced her to give up her home and live with them. While just a young girl, Mrs. Grantham made a profession of religion and became affiliated with the Church. She joined the Church of Christ move than 35 years ago and had been a faithful member in that church ever since. Her life was a living example of Christianity and she held out to her friends those high ideals that make better influence.

She leaves to mourn her departure her four children: L.A. Grantham and Mrs. Myrtle Westfall of Red Hill community, Mrs. A.J. Parks of Girard and Mrs. Josie Henderson of Lamesa. There are three stepchildren: C. Grantham of Swenson, Mrs. Cora Roach of Healdton, Okla., and Richard E. Grantham of Conconally, Wash. Four of them were present for the funeral services, the others being unable to get here.
