Obituary

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Jewell Vivian Goodwin, 56.

Rev. Norris Taylor officiated at the services held in the First Baptist church. Rev. Robert Field, Austin, assisted.

Mrs. Goodwin died Feb. 10 in the Crosbyton Hospital following a short illness. She had been a resident of Dickens County since 1922. She resided at Afton. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, L.C. Goodwin; two sons, Harold Hoyt Goodwin, Croton community; Valdee Goodwin, Lubbock; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Sursa, Bushland and Mrs. Le Rue Whitefield, Spearman; one brother, Charles Suitts, Rogers, Ark.; and one sister, Mrs. Nuna Marshall, Las Vegas, Nev.

Ten grandchildren and one grandchild are also listed.

Pallbearers included Jerry Gage, J.W. McAllister, Frank Murphy, Clay Edwards, Dewey Dement and Monroe Gage.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Graveside services for Ly Curgus (Ted) Goodwin, 75, were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Spur Cemetery, with Bob Brandon, pastor of the Spur Church of Christ officiating.

Mr. Goodwin, a farmer by occupation, died February 3 in Spearman. He lived most of his life in Dickens County but moved to Spearman two years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, LaRue Whitefield, Spearman; Joyce Sursa, Logan, New Mexico; two sons, Val Dee Goodwin, Lubbock and Harold Goodwin, Spearman; a sister, Ruth Lawson, Afton; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Campbell Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
