Obituary

Services for Guy Goen, 84, Seminole, formerly of Spur, were at 11 a.m. April 5, 1991 in Green Lawn Church of Christ, Lubbock. Graveside services in Spur Memorial Cemetery, Spur, were at 3 p.m.

C.W. (Abe) Lincoln, Seminole; Terry Brown, Green Lawn and Steven Lemley, president of Lubbock Christian University, officiated.

A long-time Dickens County rancher, Mr. Goen died about 7 a.m. April 2 in Seminole Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born May 20, 1906 in Dickens. He married Verna Beechly December 29, 1931 in Crosbyton.

He moved to Lubbock in 1977 and to Seminole in 1990. He was an active leader in the Dickens County 4H programs, and was a member of the Board of Trustees at Lubbock Christian University and on the advisory board at Abilene Christian University; he was an elder in the Spur Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Goen, Seminole and Guy H. Goen, Dickens; two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Funeral services for Verna Goen, 84, Seminole were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 1996 at the Westside Church of Christ with Mr. Abe Lincoln and Mr. Don Fleming, officiating. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Spur Memorial Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Roger Pool Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goen was born May 3, 1912 in Tulare, California and died Monday, October 7, 1996 at Seminole. She moved to Seminole from Lubbock in 1990. She had lived most of her life in Dickens County.

At Spur she was an adult leader for the 4-H, class sponsor for the PTA at Spur Schools and a Bible Class teacher at Spur Church of Christ. She was a life time member of the Lubbock Christian Associates and a member of the Westside Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Guy H. Goen, Lubbock; John Goen, Seminole; two granddaughters, Julie and Johnna Goen; brothers, Cy Beechly, Bryan; and Jack Beechly, Gatesville; sisters, Kahki Chandler, San Antonio; Laura Bachman, Bowie; Rachel Estes, Burleson and Anne McKinney, Big Spring.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
