Kenneth GilcreaseKenneth Ray Gilcrease, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on July 25, 2011 at the age of 70 to join his Heavenly Father.

Ken was born on December 6, 1940 in Fieldton, Texas to Raymond and Udell Glass Gilcrease. He grew up in Spur, Tx where he had a wonderful childhood. One of his first jobs was in Lubbock, Tx at Bell Diaries where he realized his love of sales. He was recruited for Lance, Inc. and retired as District Manager in San Antonio, Tx in 2001 after 35 years of service.

In 1990, he met Lynda McCray Wilson and spent 21wonderful years with her. They were blessed to have traveled all over the world. Ken especially loved cruising and sailing with friends and family.

In 2007, Ken and Lynda bought a small cabin on the Rio Grande River in South Fork, Colorado. They spent May through October there enjoying life to the fullest among so many happily retired people that became like family. Ken especially loved fishing and golf and more than anything, he loved the awesome beauty of Colorado.

He was a devout Christian and read his Bible every morning. Those of us left to grieve are struggling to understand how this wonderful man left so suddenly. As someone said, when Ken was ready to go, he didnt waste any time. Although heartbroken at his sudden death, his family takes comfort knowing he is in Heaven reunited with his loved ones.

Ken is survived by his wife, Lynda; one sister Norma Roberson; two brothers Randall and wife Fernella and Rick Gilcrease; two sons Dennis Gilcrease and Brent Gilcrease; two daughters Kathy Hicks and Angela Prather; three step children Brian Wilson, Kimberly Dee and Chris Wilson; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Udell Gilcrease and neice Kris Roberson Barton as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Services will be held Friday July 29, 2011 at 10.00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Rory Mosley and Eric Swenson officiating under the direction of the Campbell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Spur Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spur Senior Citizens and the Dickens County Library.
