Obituary

SPUR (Special) — Services for Marguerite Garner, 70, of Spur will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Dorn, pastor, officiating.

The Rev. Genoa Goad, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

She died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Montgomery, La., and moved to Spur in 1945. She married Elton "Rip" Garner on July 27, 1945, in Athens, GA. She was a homemaker and a member of the 700 Club. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marianne McAlister of Southlake and Suzanne Smith of San Angelo; two sisters, Mary Coleman of Shreveport, La., and Myrtle Kramer of Natchitoches, La.,; a brother, Bill Van Hook of Sidney, Mont.; and two grandchildren.

Elton �Rip� Garner 92, went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2012 in Richland Hills, Texas. He was born on December 28, 1919 in Spur, Texas to Will and Mona Peters Garner. He married the love of his life Marguerite Van Hook on July 28, 1945 in Athens, GA.

Elton Garner was a very devote Christian and a very devoted Daddy and Papaw. His main joy in life was is family and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his loved ones.

Elton is survived by one daughter Marianne Garner McAllister of Southlake, Texas; one grandson Michael Kelly McAllister and wife Kamie and one great granddaughter Berklee McAllister all of The Colony, Texas. He is also survived by two sons-in-laws Andy McAllister and Ken Smith and one sister-in-law Faye Garner as well as several nieces and nephews.

Elton Garner was preceded in death by his parents Will and Mona Garner; his wife Marguerite Van Hook Garner; one daughter Suzanna Garner Smith; two sisters Loretta Garner Hull and Dorothy Garner Bird; three brothers William Wilson �Red� Garner; E.W. �Bunk� Garner; and Dee Keith Garner.

Services will be on Saturday August 25, 2012 at 2:00 in the Chapel of Campbell Funeral Home with Larry Burton officiating under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur, Texas.
