Rosary for Calletano "Jack" Garcia, 75, of Ralls will be at 7 p.m. tonight, June 22, 2005, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ralls. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at the church with Father Jesse Cruz officiating. Military graveside services will follow at the Garcia Family Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.
He died Monday, June 20, at his residence.
Mr. Garcia was born Aug. 7, 1929 in Jayton. On Nov. 27, 1954, he married Mary Casarez in Spur. He was a loving father and a Catholic. He ranched and farmed Garcia Farming. He was a foster parent for 87 children. He was a Korean War veteran, receiving the Korean War Service Medal, the Bronze Star Service Medal, the UN Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He is preceded in death by a son, James Garcia; his parents, Luis and Loretta Garcia; and brothers, Andres and Lawrence Garcia. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Casarez Garcia of Ralls; his sons, George and wife Paula of Odessa, Gilbert and wife Patti of Rowlett, and Gary of Smyer; his daughters, Geneva Anguiano of Dallas, Gloria Espinosa and husband Manuel Jr. of Ralls, and Gigi Alvarado and husband Mac of Lubbock; brothers, Pete, Margarito and Joe John, all of Spur, and Willie of Ralls; sisters, Anita Guerro of Amarillo, Francis Navarro of Woodrow, and Julia Puente of Shallowater; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
