Last rites were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock for one of the most loved and highly respected women of Dickens County for Mrs. Catherine Fite, 93, who died late Sunday afternoon after a short illness at her home in the east part of Spur.
Mrs. Fite, who was born in Arkansas, April 1, 1854 had only a few weeks past celebrated her 93rd birthday and had enjoyed the day with members of her family being present and also many friends called throughout the day. She moved to Dickens County 34 years ago and ha made her home here continually since. She was converted early in life and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Services were held in the First Methodist Church April 28 at 3 o'clock.with Rev. Raymond Van Zandt, officiating.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with Chandler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Tom Teague of Hamlin, Lawis Lee, Guy Karr, Tommie Seals John King, Jack Rector, Bill Sparkman and George S. Link, Jr.
Surviving her are one son, Fred Fite of Lubbock and three daughters, Miss Etta Fite and Mrs. Lela Evans of Spur and Mrs. Minnie Matthews of Austin. 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Grandchildren present for the funeral services were Weldon Grimes of Spur, Mrs. Mary Catherine Hearne, Fredda Fite, Robert Grimes and Mrs. Cliff Fisher all of Dallas, Mrs. H.M. Love of Idalou, Mrs. Lois Fite of Ringgold and Rayburn Evans of Pampa.
