Earl G. Finch, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away October 12, 2008 in Decatur, TX. Services will be 2pm, Friday, October 17, 2008 at Campbell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery.
Earl was born Nov. 16, 1917 in Jayton, to John Henry Finch and Ida Beth Allen Finch. When Earl was one year old the family moved to Spur. Earl and Nel were childhood friends and married in 1939. During World War II he worked for the Navy transporting fuel and ammunition. He entered the ministry in 1952.
Earl was a minister for 59 years with the Assemblies of God, Southern California District Council. He was an avid reader and loved to fish, hunt and restore old cars. He especially enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren hunting and fishing. Earl retired as a pastor in 1989. He and Nel moved to Nevada and then Oregon, where Earl continued to be active in the ministry. November, 2007 they moved to Decatur, TX. Earl will be buried in Spur, bringing his life to a full circle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; Florene, a son-in-law, Frank Graham; and a grandchild, Michael Braly.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Nelma Spraberry Finch; children, La Juan and Bill Browning, Carolyn Graham, Larry and Maryann Finch, and Sharon and Walt Peters; grandchildren, Troy and Cindy Browning, Tamy Braly Waller and Clint Waller, Jon Finch, Tamilyn and Joe Ochoa, Christian and Janice Braly, and Jacob Peters; great-grandchildren, Taylor Browning, Julianna Braly, Zackery Ochoa, Laverne Marie Ochoa, Allison Waller, Micah Braly; and many other relatives and extended family
