Former Spur Man One of 29 Killed in Mine Disaster

Richard Faulkner, nephew of George Faulkner of Spur, was one of the twenty nine men killed in coal mine explosion at McAllester, OK, Monday night. Richard Faulkner formerly lived in Spur, having moved from here four years ago, going to McAllester where he has since been employed in the coal mine.

George Faulkner had arranged for the shipment of the body when recovered from the mine for Spur for interment.

Twenty two of the bodies had been removed from the mine Wednesday night, but many were unrecognizable, because of burns and disfigurements from the disastrous mine explosion. The Red Cross has arranged for the burial expenses at McAlester.

Homer Bond, brother of Walter Bond, soninlaw of J.P. Shaw of west of Spur, was also thought to be one of the victims of the disaster.

Richard Faulkner was twenty eight years of age, and leaves a wife [Julia] and one son [Virgil].
