Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Evans, 90, were held August 12 at 4 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Nay, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating.

Mrs. Evans was the second postmistress at Spur, serving in this capacity for 16 years. She was retired at her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She resided in Dickens County from 1914 to 1962 when she moved to California.

Surviving is one son, Rayburn Evans, Sacramento, CA; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers included D.J. Dyess, W.D. Blair, Guy Karr, James Sharp, Paul Marion and Bill Gregory.

Mrs. Lela Evans Services Slated

SPUR (Special) — Services will be at 4 p.m. today for Mrs. Lela Evans, 90, a former postmistress for Dickens County who died about 2 p.m. Wednesday in Citrus Heights, Calif., where she had been living.

The Rev. John Nay, pastor of the First Christian Church of Spur will officiate at the funeral, which will be at the First United Methodist Church of Spur. Burial will follow in Spur Cemetery by Campbell Funeral Home there.

Mrs. Evans was a native of Red River Coutny and moved to Dickens County in 1914. She lived in the county for 48 years before moving in 1962.

She is survived by a son, Raymond Evans, of Sacramento, Calif., and one grandchild.
