Jerry Ensey came to Spur with his parents in 1924, and graduated from Spur High School in 1928. He has three children, Robert, Ronnie and Becky.He served as School Board member for ten years and is past member of the Spur Chamber of Commerce Board. He also served as County Chairman of the March of dimes and is a member of the First Baptist Church, and was president of the Boosters Club.
Funeral services for Jerry Jackson Ensey, 64, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church. Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Riley Fugitt, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Clyde.A well known Spur druggist, Mr. Ensey died at his home here Monday morning at about 6:15 a.m. He was a charter member of the Spur Lions Club, director of the Spur Industrial Foundation, director of the Spur Merchants Assn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He had been a resident of Spur since 1917.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Billie Ensey, Spur; two sons, Dr. Ronnie Ensey, Boone, NC; Rickey Ensey, Louisville, KY; two step daughters, Mrs. Buddy Luce, Snyder and Mrs. Bobby Foil, Abilene; one brother, Melvin Ensey, Beaumont; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Read, Spur; Mrs. Mark Nelms, Caddo; Mrs. Woodrow Swaringen, Decatur; Mrs. Alvin Ledbetter, Odessa; 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rex Holder, Neal Chastain, Dan Robertson, Loyd Roberson, Lynn Buzbee, Arner Watson, Johnny Scudder and D.J. Dyess. Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
