Elizabeth Ensey SPUR � Elisabeth Ensey, 83, died peacefully Dec. 17, 2003, in Olympia, Wash., where she had resided with her daughter Sandy since 1992.

She was born Elisabeth Powell on July 25, 1920, in Dickens, Texas, to Judge Walter Powell and Aurora Archer Powell.

Elisabeth graduated from Spur High School in 1938 and attended Texas Tech. On Oct. 12, 1941, she married childhood sweetheart, Minyard Ensey. Following World War II, they settled in Odessa, where they owned and operated Ensey Drug from 1951 to 1971. Minyard preceded her in death in 1976.

During her 45 years in Odessa, she was active in Hospice, the Women�s Hospital Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge, Parker Heights Christian Church and Antioch Christian Church. Survivors include her daughter Sandy Hollingshead of Olympia; and grandchildren, Misty of Los Angeles, Kristopher of Norman, Okla., and Mindy of Colorado Springs, Colo. One brother, Archer Powell, preceded her in death in 1982.

Elisabeth�s memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 17, 2004, in the Round Up Chapel in the First Methodist Church in Spur.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Spur Ex-Students Scholarship Fund or the Spur Cemetery Care Fund.

On December 17, 2003, Elisabeth Powell Ensey died at the Ree-Lan Health Care Center in Lacey, WA. She was born July 25, 1920, to Judge Walter L. Powell and Aurora Archer Powell in Dickens, Texas.

Elisabeth attended Dry Lake School and graduated from Spur High School in 1938. She attended Texas Tech. When World War II shook the world, she put college on hold.

She married Minyard Ensey on October 12, 1941. Minyard joined the Navy. She went with him and worked at the Naval Stations from California to Rhode Island. When he was shipped out to the war zone in the Mediterranean she returned to Spur and lived with her brother and wife Archer and Virgie (Mc) Powell. Upon Minyard's return, they owned and operated Ensey's Drug in Odessa, Texas.

They were active members in the Parker Heights Christian Church, the Antioch Christian Church and Odessa Country Club. Elisabeth was a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Rebeka Lodge, Odessa Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary, and Hospice Care Volunteer.

Survivors include her daughter from Lacey, WA, Sandy Hollingshead. Three grandchildren, Misty of Los Angeles, CA, Kris of Norman, OK, and Mindy of Colo. Springs, CO and four nieces, Dorothy Wilson of Booker, TX, Nancy DeShan of McKinney, TX, Pat Hightower of Spur, TX and Jane Bridge of Afton, TX.

Elisabeth Ensey's memorial service will be held at the Round Up Chapel in the Methodist Church, Spur, Texas, on January 17, 2004, at 1 p.m.
