The family of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Elmore came to Spur from Kent County in 1949. They bought a farm west of Spur, lived there until 1960. They sold the farm and moved to Spur on 6th St., Rt. 1; they lived there 36 years. Two children, a daughter, Marie and a son Dwayne both were raised in Spur. Jasper´s parents Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Elmore came to Spur the same year that he and his wife came to Dickens County. They both were farmers. Services for J. L. Elmore, 82, of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 1995 in the Highway 70 Church of Christ with Van Cash officiating.Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Elmore died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, July 13 in St. Mary Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 12, 1913 in Hill County, Texas but had made his home in Dickens County since 1949. He married Rosa Fay Stogsdill in Kent County on October 14, 1940. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife of Spur; a son, Dwayne Elmore, Spur; one daughter, Marie Sample, Choctaw, Oklahoma; one sister, Elsie Harris, CA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Frank Hale, Wallace Day, Pete Day, Graden Bass, J.R. Fehland and Bucky Phelps.

Services for Rosa Faye Elmore, 82, of Spur will be Friday, August 13, 1999 at the Hill Street Church of Christ, Clifford Hutchins of arkansas and Van Cash of Afton will officiate. Burial will be in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.Mrs. Elmore died Sunday, August 8, 1999 in Lubbock. She was born June 30, 1917 in Trenton, Texas. She married J.L. Elmore October 14, 1940 in Kent County. He preceded her in death July 13, 1995. She lived in Dickens county most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Dwayne Elmore, Spur; one daughter, Marie Sample, Choctaw, Oklahoma; one sister, Lucy Hutchins, Grapevine; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
