Funeral services were held Saturday at the First United Methodist Church for Harry Dodson Ellis, 75. Rev. Howard Marcom officiated, assisted by Rev. Carl Hudson, Lubbock.A well known cowman and rancher, Mr. Ellis died in the Crosbyton Hospital June 25. He came to Kent County in 1903 and came to Spur in 1941. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was among the many colorful cowboys included in Tanner Laine´s latest book, "Cow Country."
Survivors include his wife, Winnie of Spur; one daughter, Mrs. Agatha Young, Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Agatha Locke, Miami, TX; Mrs. Rachel Bingham, Spur and Mrs. Dulaney Davis, Ralls; one brother, Dudley Ellis, Truscott, TX; one grandchild.
Pallbearers included Carlos Bass, John F. Moore, Charles Sonnamaker, Lawis Lee, Wade Barker and Joe King.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Services for Winnie Francis Ellis, 81, of Spur, were at 1 a.m. January 30, 1996, in the First United Methodist Church, Spur, with Rev. Larry Burton, officiating.Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis died January 28 in the Lutheran Home in Lubbock. Death was ruled due to natural causes.
She was born in Spur on January 1, 1915 and had lived here all of her life. She married Harry D. Ellis in Anson on March 16, 1934. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1970. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She is preceded in death by four brothers and a sister, Lucile Wyatt, Clarence Gannon, Pete Gannon, Buck Gannon and Sam Gannon.
She is survived by a daughter, Agatha Brann and husband, Eric John of Houston; a brother, Bill Gannon, Goodland, KS; five sisters, Mae Bingham and Dora Finch, both of Lubbock; Virginia Stumbo, Carlsbad, NM; Tince Baker, Spur and Thelma Fletcher, Brownwood; a grandson, Kyle Ellis Young.
Pallbearers included nephews Fred Wyatt, Don Gannon, Bob Gannon, Lawson McWilliams, Dwayne Gannon and Eddie Gannon.
The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church.
