Roy Edmonds Died At Home Saturday After Protracted Illness

Roy Douglas Edmonds died Saturday night, September 8, 1928, following a protracted illness since July 4th. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rodgers at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 4 o´clock, and interment was made in Spur Cemetery immediately following. The casket was draped with a blanket from the Spur football team and his lettered sweater as a member of the Tech Track Team, and the grave was banked with flowers from friends, school and college classmates and social clubs of the city.

Roy was born November 15, 1907, lacking only a few months of being 21 years of age. He graduated from Spur High School and had one year´s course at Tech College, being a leader in athletics and track events. Roy was a good, moral Christian young man. His death, just in the bloom of useful young manhood´s estate, is a loss to the community and a great sorrow to the family, whose friends deeply sympathize and sorrow with them. We have been close friends and near neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds and family for 20 odd years, our boys played and associated with each other and we noted their development from infancy into young manhood. Our family feels almost as if one of our own had the call of death.
