Services for Randolph East, 79, of Brownwood were held at 2 p.m., April 23, in the Church of Christ in Spur with Curley Wiginton and Jim Hall officiating.Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
He died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in Brownwood Regional Hospital after an illness.
He was born in Alexander City, Alabama, and moved to Brownwood 10 years ago. He had lived in Spur and owned and operated a variety store in Spur. He married Thelma Hale on December 21, 1935, in Spur. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, two granddaughters, Luanne Martin, Houston; Cheryl Hodge, Lovington, NM; a grandson, Tommy East, Lovington, NM; a sister Verona Lawrence, Grand Saline. Four brothers, Jackson East, Snyder; Howard East, Fernely, NV; Bob Grice, Shallowater; and Woody Grice, Dumas; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry in 1961.

Thelma L. East, 91, of Baytown, TX was born November 12, 1918 in Spur and passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 in a Baytown healthcare facility. She was a retired clerk with the Texas Department of Public Safety and was a member of the Mont Belvieu Outreach Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph East; son, Jerry East; and great grandsons, Jeremy Martin and Jerry Hodge. She is survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Luanne E. and Don Martin of Mont Belvieu, Tommy and Debbie East of Huttig, AR and Cheryl and Steven Foster of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Jason, Justin and Melanie Martin, Crystal and Tommy East and Jimmy Hodge; great great grandchildren, Jayce and Maddie Rose Martin; and brother, Jim Pete Hale of Robinson.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spur City Cemetery in Spur, TX with Eric Swenson offciating.
