Services for H. W. Herschel Durham, 88, Carlsbad, New Mexico were at 4 p.m. MST November 11, 1996 at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Wood of Firt United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial was at 11 a.m. CST Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in Spur.

He died Saturday, November 9, 1996 at Landsun Health Services Center.

He was born June 15, 1908 in Denton. He moved to West Texas in the early 1930s and he married Edith Durham on December 25, 1931. They moved to Carlsbad in 1992, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Levelland.

He worked various jobs in the Spur area, he owned and operated a Western Auto Store in Levelland from 1947 to 1955. He then worked in real estate and farming. he later became a sales representative for Hydrotex, where he sold fuel additives for farm equipment.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Durham; two sons, Duane "Slim" Durham, Spur and Beryl Durham, Carlsbad; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite Carlsbad charity.

SPUR Graveside services for Edith Durham, 90, of Carlsbad, N.M., will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Spur Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Harbison, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Denton-Funchess Funeral Home of Carlsbad, N.M.

She died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Landsun Health Service Center in Carlsbad, N.M.

She was born Jan. 20, 1910. She married Herschel Winscel Durham. He died Nov. 9, 1996. She received her bachelor´s degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and her master´s degree from Texas Tech. She taught school in West Texas for more than 47 years at Claremont, Spur and Levelland. She taught at Levelland for the last 20 years of her career.

Survivors include two sons, Duane "Slim" of Spur and Beryl of Carlsbad, N.M.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
