Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Pearl Durham, 72, longtime West Texas resident, were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 22, 1951, in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with Rev. Sidney Cox officiating, assisted by Rev. C. Melvin Ratheal.

Mrs. Durham was born April 21, 1878, Grapevine. She married E. Durham in Garza, TX. on Jan. 20, 1907, and came to Dickens county in 1933. They had resided in the Gilpin community for the past several years.

Survivors are the husband, E.Durham, five daughters, Mrs. Nolan Corder, Lubbock; Mrs. Herschel Durham and Mrs. Elmer D. Hagins, Spur; Mrs. J.E. McKinzie, Springer, NM; and Mrs. J.N. Poteet, Ralls; a son, Cecil B. Durham, Albuquerque, NM.

Also surviving are three brothers and three sister, J.A. Barton, H.A. Barton and Mrs. Anne Smith, all of Denton; Mrs. J.I. Smith, Snyder, OK; Claude Barton, Ada, OK, and Mrs. J.F. Lancaster, Glen Rose.

Thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.

Interment was in Spur cemetery, with Campbell Funeral Chapel directing arrangements.

Funeral services for Ernest Durham, 87, a retired farmer, will be held today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church. Rev. Norris Taylor will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. Sidney Cox, Hobbs, NM.

Mr. Durham died April 27, 1971. He came to Dickens County in 1932 and had resided in Spur since 1956. He was a member of the Baptist Church and served as a deacon for over 50 years.

Survivors include one son, Cecil B., Denton; 5 daughters, Mrs. Nolan Corder, Ft. Worth; Mrs. J.N. Poteet, Levelland, and Mrs. Elmer D. Hagins, Spur; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 4 great greats.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Nolan Corder, Dr. Jim W. Corder, Robert D. Bell, Duane Durham, Beryl Durham, William H. McKenzie, Billy Joe Gurra, Edwin D. Hagins, Captain Howell D. Hudson, Walter Brink and James A. Hairston.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Spur Cemetery.
