Obituary

Funeral services were held for Robert Arthur Drennon, 68, December 4 at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church with Rev. J.M. Martin and Rev. A.P. Stokes officiating.

Mr. Drennon was born in Tenn. March 2, 1881 and in 1907 he married Edith Mullins at Lamesa County, Texas. In 1923 they moved to Midway and in 1947 he and his wife moved to Spur.

Pallbearers were Jeff Randolph, Kelley McAllester, Eldridge Cornett, Ottie Cornett, Barnatt Haney, and Marvin Goolsby.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. E.J. Duncan of Meadow; Mrs. Frank Ragland of Roaring Springs; Mrs. Jack Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mrs. Geo. Gelles of Johnstown, PA; and Mrs. T.A. Morrow of Spur; four sons, Gus of Lubbock; Lester, of Lakin, Kansas; Robert Jr., U.S. Navy; and Paul, U.S. Army; One sister, Rosa Beech who lives in Alabama and 16 grandchildren.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home had charge of all arrangements.

Funeral services were held Monday in the First Methodist Church at 4 p.m. for Mrs. R.A. Drennon, 73, Rev. Wm. McReynolds officiated assisted by Rev. Jessie Young of Ropesville. Mrs. Drennon died about noon Saturday at her home.

Born in Tennessee in 1889, Mrs. Drennon was a member of the Methodist Church. The former Edith Mullins, she married R.A. Drennon in Paris, Texas on October 19, 1907. They came to Dickens County in 1923 and to Spur in 1947.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. E.J. Young, Meadow; Mrs. Thurman Morrow, Spur; Mrs. Frank Ragland, Roaring Springs; Mrs. Jack Robinson, Worland, Wyoming; Mrs. George Gelles, Conemaugh, Pennsylvania; four sons; Gus Drennon of Ralls, Luther of Lufkin, Robert, Kermit and Paul of Irving; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Young, Brownfield and Mrs. Myrtle McCann, Lubbock. Twenty-three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were Bernard Harvey, Jeff Randolph, Eldred Cornett, James Cornett, and Jimmy Rainbolt.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
