Jim Draper photo Saturday, May 2, 2015. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 87 years on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Spur Cemetery in Spur, Texas, at 3 p.m. A tribute of Jimmie's life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.

Jimmie George was born on Aug. 6, 1927, to Ellis and Alma Hahn Draper in Espuela, Texas. On June 4, 1966, Jimmie married the love of his life, Linda Bagwell at the Loop First Baptist Church in Loop, Texas. He was an outstanding football player while attending Spur High School in Spur, Texas. His athletic ability earned him a scholarship to West Texas University, but was drafted to serve his county in the United States Army for 18 months. Jim returned to West Texas University to play football in the Border Conference. He and his teammates won the Border Conference Championship game in 1950 and the Sun Bowl in 1951. Jim became a coach at Electra High School in Electra, Texas, in the fall of 1951. He moved to Seagraves in 1952, where he was a coach for 32 years. While coaching in Seagraves, he led his team to 14 district championships and runner up in state in 1977. Mr. Draper served as a municipal judge in Seagraves from 1984 until 1997. He was a member of the Monterey Baptist Church and was active in the Lion's Club.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Draper; daughter, Darlene Hopkins and husband, Carl; son, David Kyle Draper and wife, Michelle; two granddaughters, Allison Jane and Kayla Ann Draper; grandson, Colton Hopkins; sister, Mary Saxon; and two nephews, Lanis Saxon and wife, Janet, and Royce Saxon. He is also survived by other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
