Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the First Methodist Church for James Coy Dopson, 72, well known Dickens County farmer and sheepman. Rev. Howard Marcom officiated, assisted by Rev. Conrad Ryan, Abernathy.Mr. Dopson died April 19 in the Crosbyton Hospital following a brief illness. He came to Dickens County in 1912 and married the former Lottie Johnson in 1918. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a veteran of WWI. A son, Kenneth died in 1968.
Survivors include his wife, Spur; one son, Donald Dopson, Spur; three sisters, Ora Lee Bryan, San Antonio, Mrs. Charles Anglin, and Mrs. Robbie Royals, of Lubbock; one brother, Ben Dopson, Lamesa.
Pallbearers included Bob Pickens, Dick Wright, Ellis Draper, W.R. Jimison, Lawis Lee, George Sloan, Marlin Rogers, Horace Hyatt, John Alsin, Mansell Bragg and Bob Dixon.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery.

Services for Lottie L. Dopson, 91, were held April 22, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Genoa Goad, pastor, officiating.Mrs. Dopson died April 20, about 5:45 p.m. in the Crosbyton Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born February 10, 1897 in Indian Territory, OK. She came to the Spur Headquarters Ranch in 1902. She was a homemaker and for a time wrote the Dry Lake Community News for the Texas Spur.
She married James Coy Dopson on Jun 26, 1918 in Dry Lake. He died on April 19, 1970. She wa a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son: Donald Dopson, Spur and one sister, Mary Helen Lackey, Amarillo. Two sons, preceded her in death, J.C. Dpson, Jr. in 1935 and Kenneth Dopson in 1968.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
