Funeral services for Thomas Tupper Dillashaw, 77, who died Friday, Aug. 27 at his residence in east Spur after a long illness were held in the First Baptist church Saturday at 6 p.m. with Revs. C.H. Browning, Herman Coe and J. V. Bilberry officiating.Chandler Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Spur Cemetery.
Mr. Dillashaw was born in Salado, Bel County, May 18, 1866, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lovett T. Dillashaw, and was a native of Texas. He was married to Miss Mattie Barns, Sept. 6, 1896 at Gatesville, TX where they lived for some time. They came to Dickens County in 1919 where they have lived since.
Mr. Dillashaw was converted to an early age and joined the Methodist Church. He had fifty grandchildren and one great grandchild. At this time he has six grandsons serving in overseas services.
Other survivors are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. W. B. Pruitt, Mrs. Chester Powell, Mrs. S. C. Reynolds, Mrs. Delbert Bailey; 7 sons: Bonnie, Tom, Jack, Charlie, L.T., Wilson and Pvt. Robert Dillashaw stationed at Camp Gruber, OK; three sisters, Mrs. Rowland, Mrs. Henderson, and Laura Dillashaw.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 23, at 4 p.m., in the Assembly of God Church for Mrs. Mattie Lou Dillashaw. Rev. Eddie Hundley, assisted by Rev. W.R. Reed, officiated.Mrs. Dillashaw was born November 21, 1873, at Montgomery, Ala. She died August 22, 1953, at the home of her daughter here in Spur. She was converted early in life and joined the Baptist Church. On Sept. 6, 1896, she was married to Thomas T. Dillashaw at Gatesville, Texas and was preceded by him in death in 1943. She came to Dickens County in 1919 and had lived here ever since.
Pallbearers were the grandsons.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Maxine Pruitt of Fort Worth and Mrs. Sadie Powell, Mrs. Mable Reynolds and Mrs. Martha Lou Bailey all of Spur; seven sons, Bonnie D. Dillashaw of Waxahachie; Tom of Farmington, N.M.; Jack of Angel Camp, Calif.; L.T. of Orange; W.W. of Sweetwater; Charlie of Orange; and Robert of Farmington, N.M.; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Taylor of Cairo, Egypt; 51 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Spur cemetery with Chandler Funeral Home in charge of the final arrangements.
