Obituary

Services for William (Bill) Archie Dement, 85, of Spur, were at 3 p.m. January 11, 1990 in the Highway 70 Church of Christ. Franklin Orr, Euless, officiated, assisted by Ernie Bishop, Spur.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dement died January 9 at about 9:25 p.m. in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 6, 1904 in Mt. Pleasant. He had been a resident of Spur since 1924. He was a service station owner-operator for 50 years. He married Marie Solley on January 24, 1924 in Atlanta, TX.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Dement, Spur; two sons, Dewey Dement, Lubbock and Douglas Dement of Lewisville; (two sons preceded him in death: Hardy Dement in 1975 and Billy Ray Dement in 1932); five daughters, Geeneta McAllister, Dickens; Patsy Lee, Rita Brendle and Rosa Jones, all of Lubbock; Janice Kearney, Abilene; (one daughter, Maezele Hammock died in 1981) one sister, Alwyn Rhyne of Los Angeles, CA and 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

SPUR — Services for Sarah Marie Dement, 93, of Spur will be at 2 p.m. today at Highway 70 Church of Christ with Franklin Orr and Eddie Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

She died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002.

She was born Jan. 10, 1908, in Bloomburg, where she married Bill Dement Jan. 24, 1925. He died Jan. 9, 1990. She spent most of her life in Spur. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Hardie Allen and Billy Ray, and a daughter, Maezelle Hammock.

Survivors include five daughters, Geneta McAllister of Plainview, Patsy Lee of Lubbock, Rita Brendle of Dickens, Janice Kearney of Abilene and Rosa Jones of Crowley; two sons, Dewey of Plainview and Douglas of Winona; 22 grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
