Obituary

Funeral services for George Lilburn Delisle, 63, well known Dickens County farmer, were held at the First Methodist church, Spur, Saturday afternoon. Delisle had been hospitalized in Houston and Spur for the past few weeks.

He had been farming in the Soldier Mound community. He came to Dickens County 36 years ago. Rev. John Rakestraw officiated at the service; he was assisted by O.L. Dewees.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elva Delisle; and three sons, Weldon, Houston; Fred, Lubbock; and Alton, Spur. Three brothers, Frank, Gainesville; Lee, Grand Junction, CO, and Tom, Gainsville; five sisters, Mrs. Floyd Utley, Whitesboro; Mrs. I.J. McMahan, Spur; Mrs. S.M. Proffer, Mrs. Arch Osborn and Mrs. Pearl Lloyd, all of Gainesville.

Pallbearers were George Nalley, Clarence Foreman, John K. Johnson, Abb Latham, R.G. Bostic, Dalton Lehew. Honorary pallbearers were Ola Miller, Willie Ball, W.F. Gilbert, Ollie Hindman, Willie Williams, John Gregston, Ray Caplinger and Seals Earnest.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery, Campbell´s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorial services for Mrs. Elva Delisle, 84, were held at the First United Methodist Church following graveside services on July 5, 1980. Rev. Eddie Allsup, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiated.

Mrs. Delisle died at her home here on July 3. She had resided in Dickens County since 1923 and was a member of the Methodist Church. Her husband preceded her in death in June of 1958.

She is survived by 3 sons, Weldon, Houston, Fred, Lubbock and Alton, Orange; a brother, Bill Boaz, Whitesboro; two sisters, Mrs. D.P. Davis, Abilene, Faye Blaze, Kansas; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included W.M. Hunter, Raymond McCombs, R.G. Bostic and George Nalley.

Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.
