Ruby DavisRuby D. Davis, 86 of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at a local medical center. A visitation will be held at Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street on Sunday, March 3rd from 3-5 pm. A service will be held in the Piersall Benton Chapel on Monday, March 4th at 11 am with the burial to follow in the Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur, Texas at 3:00 pm.

Ruby was born in Spur, Texas to Richard Duboise and Norah Lee Donnel Duboise. She was one of nine children. She attended school in Spur and graduated Valedictorian of her high school class and was a part of their championship volleyball team. After high school she moved to Abilene, along with the rest of her family, where she attended Draughn's business college. With the skills she acquired at Draughn's she was able to serve for a number of years as the Wing Commanders Secretary at Dyess Air Force Base. She served in other civil service offices such as the Army, Navy, IRS and the Department of Health and Human Services and then, after being "retired" at age 62 for one year, she decided to go to work at Hendrick Medical Center where she worked for another 14 years.

Except for a few short years spent in other Texas cities, Ruby has called Abilene home for most of her life. She was a devoted member of the Abilene Bible Church for more than 40 years and an active participant in many of its ministries.

Surviving Ruby are her daughters, Brenda Trojcak of Abilene and Barbette Wills and husband Casey of Seguin, TX, grandchildren; Laci Stamm and husband Henry, Calan Wills and wife Becky, Calisha Atkins and husband David, Hannah Reeves, Ricky Reeves, T.J. Mayfield and wife Joanna and Roxanne LeMay and husband Richard as well as ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five brothers.

The family requests that donations be made in honor of Ruby to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center at https://www.westtexasrehab.org/donate-to-the-rehab/.
