Rob Davis Killed In Car Accident Near Ballinger

Rob A. Davis, former citizen of Spur, died Monday 9:30 a.m. Dec. 23, from injuries received in a car accident six miles north of Ballinger, about 8:00 Saturday evening. Mr. Davis was accompanying Mr. John T. Herd, president of a bank at Post to the latters ranch, near Ballinger, for the weekend, when a calf ran onto the highway and hit the door of the car causing it to come open. Mr. Herd escaped without serious injury.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church here at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Rob Davis was born August 3, 1900 in Dickens, TX. He moved to Spur with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sol Davis in 1910. He graduated from Spur High School and attended the Christian Church College at Enid, OK, during the fall of 1918.

Mr. Davis was married to Miss Kate Hall September 30, 1919 and to this union were born three children: Robert Hall, Emily Marie, and Vera Nell. They made their home in Spur until 1931 when they moved to Quitiqua where Mr. Davis was associated with the O. C. Arthur Drug Store for two or three years. From there they moved to Post where they have resided since. Mr. Davis has been with the Tax Collection Department of Garza County for the past four years.

Mr. Davis was a member of the First Christian Church, joining at an early age, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kate Davis, one son, Robert Hall; one daughter, Vera Nell; his mother, Mrs. Nell Davis and three brothers, Lee of Post; John A. of Philadelphia, PA; and Lewis Green of Spur and numerous other relatives.

Interment will be in Spur Cemetery.
