Funeral services for William Overton (Bill) Davenport, 89, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the first Baptist Church, Spur, with Rev. Sam Simmons, church pastor, officiating.Mr. Davenport died Sunday in the Crosbyton Hospital after a lengthy illness. A veteran of World War I, he came to Dickens County in 1923 from Waco. He was formerly in road construction. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. W.O. Davenport, Spur; two sons, Bob Davenport. Brownwood and Joe Davenport, Las Vegas, Nevada; three daughters, Margaret Davenport, Lubbock; Mildred Hagins, Spur and Lynda Davenport, Houston; one sister, Sue Hoffman, San Diego, California; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Browder, of California and a son, Wayne Davenport, Odessa.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Gertrude M. Davenport, 92, Spur, at 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, 1995 in First Baptist Church, Spur with Dr. Genoa Goad, officiating.Mrs. Davenport was born July 15, 1902 in Chico, Texas and died June 23, 1995 in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. She had lived in Dickens County 72 years.
She was a housewife and member of the First Baptist Church Spur.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1983 a son, Wayne and a daughter Sue Browder and three brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Davenport, Brownwood; Joe Davenport, Las Vegas, NV; three daughters, Mildred Hagins, Spur; Margaret Davenport, Lubbock and Lynda Davenport, Houston; one brother, Levi Meador, Spur; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Nephews were pallbearers.
