Funeral services were held for Joe T. Cozby, Tuesday, December 20 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church with Rev. H.L. Burham officiating and Rev. Cal Wright assisted.Joe Cozby was born July 4, 1879 in Erath County; he married Daisey Colley, in 1900 in Proctor, Texas. In 1917 he moved to Silver City, N.M. and remained there until February of 1949 when he moved to Dickens County.
Pallbearers were Sam Blair, Lon Hoover, Clyde Smith, Robert Cannon, Ab Latham and George Lisenby.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Velma Smith, of Spur and Mrs. Ophelia Cannon, of Silver City, N.M.; one brother, L.B. Cozby of Floydada; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Blair of Spur and Mrs. Lucy Havis of Slaton and one grandson, Joe Cannon, of Silver City, N.M.
Chandlers Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Colley Cozby were held Sunday in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. John Rakestraw officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Riley Fugitt. Mrs. Cozby came to Spur in 1949. she was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Velma Smith, Spur and Mrs. Ophelia Cannon, Crownpoint, NM; three sisters, Mrs. Gussie Ewing, Amarillo, Mrs. Connie Hancing, Cisco, and Mrs. Esther Godsley; two brothers, F.L. Colley, Ft. Worth and W.W. Colley, Dallas. One grandson and two great grandchildren also survive.©The Texas Spur, October 30, 1958
