Death of Mayor Cowan Grieved By All Spur

One of Spur´s best known and respected sons was lost to this city April 17 when E.J. Cowan, pioneer lawyer and first justice of the peace of Spur, died at a Wichita Falls Clinic of a heart ailment.

That he had been re-elected Mayor prior to his death is evidence of the esteem of high local citizens. Quoting from resolutions passed by the City Commission upon his death are words to express his prestige and personal status with those that knew him best. "...elements of an honorable official; noble and generous in mind;...efficient officer and exemplary citizen."
