Biography

C. D. and Ella (Watson) Copeland came to Spur in 1909 and settled nine miles east of Spur. There were no roads between their place and town, just trails through ranch land. They came here from Mart, Texas with their five children: Mary, Arnold, Omen, Wilton and Beulah. Shorty was born four years later. Mary was in the first graduation class in 1913 from Spur High School. There were Copeland children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Spur schools for fifty years.

C. D. bought the first Farmall tractor in the county. C. D. was a big cotton farmer.
