Obituary

Graveside services for James David Cook, 77, of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Henderson officiating under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Cook died Sunday, June 3, 2001 in the Crosbyton Hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Britton. He married Gaynell Cornett on Nov. 11, 1961, in Grand Prairie. He was a self-employed farmer and rancher in the Spur area for many years. He moved to Dickens County in 1984 coming from Britton. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Gaynell Cook of Spur; one stepdaughter, Virginia Nunn of Afton; two brothers, Clyde Cook of Grand Prairie and Billy Joe Cook of Hurst; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren

Graveside services for Gaynell Cook, 81, of Spur were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2002 in Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Services were under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

She died Sunday, October 27, 2002 in Crosbyton.

Mrs. Cook was born May 9, 1921, in Duncan Flat, Texas to Joe W. and Myrtie Jones Cornett. She graduated from Patton Springs High School in 1939. She married James David Cook on Nov. 11, 1961, in Grand Prairie, TX. He preceded her in death June 3, 2001. She was a retired computer operator for LTV Corp. in Grand Prairie. She had lived in Spur the last 15 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Nunn of Afton; one brother, John Cornett of Afton; one granddaughter, DeAnne Roberts of Dickens; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Timberlake and Landon Roberts.

The family suggests memorials to Palace Theater, c/o Spur Chamber of Commerce, Box 321, Spur, TX 79370.
