I was born to Hade and Audie Byrd Condron on January 28, 1937. 1 have been told that there was a little controversy over my name. Mom said Jackie Hays ? Dad said Jackie Bob, Dad won. I grew up about two miles north of Spur doing the things most boys do. I can remember always having a dog and a horse. Matter of fact, 1 still have one of each. Playing with Don and Ted Hindman and Corky and Sissy Lee was always a treat. My brother, Don and I and the Hindman boys were almost inseparable. Another fond memory was attending the revival meetings at the First Methodist Church with Runt Kate Buchanan and riding in her Model T Ford.I married Deanie Mobley on June 6, 1958. We have two children: Bobby Dean, born November 29, 1959. Bobby and his wife, Angie (Ozborn) have given us a grandson, Derek. Derek is expecting a brother or sister at this time. Bobby is now serving in the United States Air Force and stationed at Dyess Air Base, Abilene, Texas. Our daughter, Debbie was born January 6, 1962. Debbie is now working at the Graham Airport in Graham, Texas.
Deanie and I first lived in Spur then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and only stayed a few months - too cold and unfriendly for a Dickens County boy. We came back to Spur and then moved to Croton and lived on the Larry Boothe place. We did not stay there long either. We moved back to Spur and bought a home. In 1966 we moved to Mom and Dad´s home place half a mile north of Spur on the curve towards Dickens. Dad bought this place in 1948.
Deanie and 1 were divorced in May, 1980. I remained on the place until the house burned in April, 1985.
I am still living in Spur and am engaged in stock farming.
