Services for Wallace Harper Conaway, 86, of Dickens were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Dickens Baptist Church with the Rev. John Truitt officiating. Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Mr. Conaway died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001 at the Crosbyton Hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Cottle County, Texas. He lived most of his life in Dickens County, where he was a farmer and rancher for many years, as well as a trucker. He was a graduate of Spur High School in 1934 and a member of First Baptist Church in Spur.

Survivors include a son, Joe of Ashland, KS; two daughters, Linda Conaway of Dickens and Sue Johnson of Lubbock; three sisters, Gladys Grey of Quincey, Calif., Fannie Mae Black of Muleshoe and Margaret Baxter of Hereford; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

One son, Bobbie Wallace, preceded him in death in 1937 as well as a great granddaughter, Melonie Brook Barrington in 1996.

Memorials may be made to the North Dickens County Senior Citizens or the Dickens Baptist Church.
