Mrs. Conaway Buried Here
Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Elizabeth Conaway, 83, were held at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church. Rev. Victor Crabtree officiated assisted by Rev. R.D. Hill.Born April 4, 1875, Mrs. Conaway first came to Dickens County in 1927. She made her home three miles southwest of Dickens.
Survivors include seven daughters: Annie Oakes, CA; Gladys Gray, CA; Mrs. Burral Black,Muleshoe, Mary Reynolds, Lubbock, Mrs. Henry Smith, Claude, Mrs. Burt Burral, Groom, and Margaret Smith, Dickens; two sons, T.L. and Wallace, both of Dickens; one brother, B.B. Epting, Mott, TX; 29 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. Interment was in Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Robert Reynolds, John Sharp, Fred Arrington, Johnnie Koonsman, Elmer D. Hagins and Willis Smith.
